Ambit Energy, the sixth-largest retail energy provider in the country, announced a few new market expansions that will take place this spring. The expansions will take place within three states that the company is already offering service in.
In New Hampshire, Ambit will open in three new territories: New Hampshire Electric Co-op for electricity to 80,000 available customers, in Unitil for electricity to 68,767 available customers, and in Liberty Utilities for electricity to 333,000 available customers. All three territories will open on Feb. 27 for Residential & Small Commercial customers.
The largest expansion is happening in Massachusetts: in the NationalGrid territory for electricity with 1.2 million available customers, and in the NSTAR territory for electricity with 1.1 million available customers. Enrollments for both new markets begin April 15 for Residential & Small Commercial customers. That’s a total of 2.3 million potential customers in Massachusetts alone for the energy giant.
In Virginia, Ambit will open in the Columbia Gas of Virginia territory for natural gas to a potential 245,000 customers. Enrollments begin April 30 to Residential & Small Commercial customers.
Already operating with annual revenues of more than $1 billion, Ambit Energy is aiming for $2 billion with a growing customer base. The goal is to reach 2 billion customers.
