Ambit Energy Illinois Service Area, Rates & Plans
Ambit Energy offers service in Illinois to customers in these service areas:
Ameren provides electricty to most of Central and Southern Illinois
NICOR provides gas to the northern third of the state, excluding the city of Chicago
ComEd provides electricity to most of the northern region of the state
Peoples Gas provides gas to the city of Chicago
North Shore Gas provide gas to Chicago suburbs
Ambit Energy Illinois Service Plans
Standard Variable: This variable plan has a competitive rate that can change on a monthly basis depending on the current market conditions. Most customers will pay a higher rate with this plan.
Standard Fixed: Ambit also offers a fixed rate plan so customers can lock in a low per kWh rate for a 12-month period. This is our most popular option. Also, there is no early termination fee for New Jersey customers, so locking in a rate that will not change during the contract term is an easy choice for customers.
Green Variable & Fixed: The Green-e certified plan is slightly higher because Ambit must mark up the price necessary to purchase RECs (renewable energy certificates). These offset the usage and qualify as “green” energy. The extra money paid for a green plan is directed to local renewable energy initiatives in New Jersey. There are fixed and variable plan options.
