Ambit Energy New Jersey Service Area, Rates & Plans
Ambit Energy offers service in every available deregulated area of New Jersey. There are a few small cities and areas that Ambit does not serve. These are mostly city-run utilities, and therefore do not participate in deregulation. Customers in the following six New Jersey utility companies can switch to Ambit:
PSEG provides electricity and gas to the six largest cities in New Jersey
Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) is the main provider of electricity in northwestern and eastern New Jersey
Atlantic City Electric is the supplier of electricity for southern New Jersey
Rockland Electric provides electricity to northeastern New Jersey along the New York border
South Jersey Gas provides gas to seven counties in southern New Jersey
New Jersey Natural Gas provides gas to mid-coast New Jersey
Ambit Energy New Jersey Rates and Plans
Standard Variable: This variable plan has a competitive rate that can change on a monthly basis depending on the current market conditions. Most customers will pay a higher rate with this plan.
Standard Fixed: Ambit also offers a fixed rate plan so customers can lock in a low per kWh rate for a 12-month period. This is our most popular option. Also, there is no early termination fee for New Jersey customers, so locking in a rate that will not change during the contract term is an easy choice for customers.
Green Variable & Fixed: The Green-e certified plan is slightly higher because Ambit must mark up the price necessary to purchase RECs (renewable energy certificates). These offset the usage and qualify as “green” energy. The extra money paid for a green plan is directed to local renewable energy initiatives in New Jersey. There are fixed and variable plan options.
