Your Expectations Don’t Mean Crap!

How do you react when your business doesn’t turn out like you expect? Do you keep going and push forward? Do you sit in the corner and suck your thumb? Here’s the deal: your expectations of how your home-based business will go don’t mean crap. Now, I’m not talking about goals. You absolutely should set goals for your business. I’m talking about what you expect things to be like. Expectations do not determine results, so you should not base your preserved success or failure on your expectations. More Goals. Fewer Expectations. I’m all for visualizing what you want and planning exactly how you are going to get there. But expectations are different. Let’s say you get started in your business and you’re super-pumped about making money from home. You know you’re going to kill it. You’re so excited and confident that you expect about one in every three people you talk to will either become your customer or join your business. That’s very likely not going to be anywhere close … [Read more...]

Overcoming Objections to Building an Ambit Energy Business: ‘I Read Bad Reviews Online’’

In our series of overcoming common objections people give to building an Ambit Energy or network marketing business, we've covered several things such as "I don't have enough time" and "I need to talk to my spouse," among others. This week we are looking at one just about everyone has heard, but can be difficult to know how to respond to unless you are prepared. I actually came across this objection the very morning that I'm writing this. See the screen shot below for the text I received from a prospect. It's the "I read some bad reviews on the Internet" objection. Uhm, yeah. So this is probably my one objection when I have to hold back my emotions. To you and me, it's a pretty ridiculous objection. But to your prospect, it can be pretty concerning since this is their initial exposure to your business and company. The Truth First of all, let's look at the truth about this objection. Anyone can Google bad reviews and complaints, especially with big companies. … [Read more...]

29 Inspirational Quotes I Always Keep With Me

To have success in any business, you have to learn from those who came before you. This has certainly been my experience as an Ambit Energy Consultant. So, I wanted to share several of my favorite quotes that have driven me and inspired me along the way. These aren't just things I have applied to my business. They have also helped me in so many other areas of my life. Hopefully they do the same for you. I keep these quotes with me at all times on my phone. I refer to them often, and each time I do, different ones stand out to me depending on what's going on in my life at that time. Feel free to share this list using the share buttons to the left. "Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound." -James Allen "We all come into this world the same: naked, scared, and ignorant. After that grand entrance, the life we end up with is simply an accumulation of the choices we make." -Darren Hardy "Let others … [Read more...]

Overcoming Objections to Building an Ambit Energy Business: ‘I Need to Talk to My Spouse’

Over the last few weeks we've been looking at how to overcome some of the most common objections people give to building an Ambit Energy business. These objections can also be applied to most any home-based or direct sales business. This week we look at an objection that's is usually a good thing: "I need to talk to my spouse." I was actually hit with this objection a few weeks ago with a lady in California who got in touch with me through my website. She even told me she was about 90 percent ready to join the business... BUT she needed to talk to her husband. What They Really Mean First, let's look at what someone really mean when they give this objection. Typically, they mean that they want to make sure their spouse is on board. This can be a good thing, because if someone is seriously considering building a significant business, they definitely should make sure their spouse is on board and will be supportive. They may even want to build the business with their … [Read more...]

Overcoming Objections to Building an Ambit Energy Business: ‘I Need to Do Research’

If you've been involved in network marketing or direct sales for any length of time, you know that people give all kinds of objections and excuses as to why they can't build a business. Our second post on overcoming common objections people give to building an Ambit Energy business (or any network marketing business, really) looks at the objection: "I need to do some research." Be sure to read my first post in my series covering objections on "I don't have enough time" here. So, how do you respond when you show someone the business opportunity and they tell you they need to do some research? Don't Push Back Like with any objection or excuse you receive, never immediately push back or belittle someone's excuse or objection. Always be respectful. Even if they might have misconceptions about the business and opportunity, everyone has a different perspective, different experiences and different mindsets. Instead of pushing back and objecting to their objection, say that you … [Read more...]

Overcoming Objections to Building an Ambit Energy Business: ‘Not Enough Time’

This is the first in a series of posts about overcoming the most common objections people give to building an Ambit Energy business. In this one, we look at the most common one: “I don’t have enough time.” I’ve heard this objection more times than I could ever remember. Here's the thing: everyone is busy. I work my Ambit business part time. I have a full-time job and do some freelance work that I really enjoy doing, all in addition to Ambit. Plus, I have an awesome wife and four young kids (that's them below!). I, as much as anyone, understand what it means to be busy. When you get this response, don’t immediately push back. Say that you understand, and maybe even relate to them. For example, I sometimes will say, “I certainly understand how time can be an issue. I have a full-time job plus a family of five I have to take care of.” Then respond with a question (responding with questions is always great!). One option is to ask them how much time they think they would need to … [Read more...]

Stop Waiting on Perfection… It Ain’t Happening!

Perfection can be a terrible thing... when it keeps you from taking action. So many consultants in my business (and I used to be this way, so I know!) worry so much about being perfect that they fail to take action. No one is perfect. Here's the thing: perfection is not required to make money. I'm glad, too, because if it was I wouldn't make a penny. Worrying about making the perfect invite or hosting the perfect presentation or knowing the perfect thing to say is just going to keep you from taking action. And that is the exact opposite of what you want. Action pays. This is a learn-as-you-go business. That's why network marketing is structured as a team business. You take action, then get coaching and training. Then, take more action. Tweak a few things. Get better. Take more action. The most successful people in the world still have coaches and mentors. They have failed way more than they succeeded, and that's because they aren't afraid to take action. Not being afraid … [Read more...]

Ambit Energy is bringing back its most successful promotion, but this time has added a twist that will make it even easier for consultants to grow their business and promote through the company's compensation plan. The only overhead cost is $24.95 a month for your suit of marketing websites that allows consultants to enroll customers and other consultants. To add to the Zero Down 2.0 promotion, Ambit Energy is also offering a Double-50 Bonus. Here's how it works: Any new consultant who enrolls four Texas customers in their first 28 days from starting their business can earn $200 ($100 is paid on the first two Texas customers and then another $100 on the other two customers).
